EverFi and BloomBoard Launch Teacher Certification Program on Financial Education
New competency-based professional development program enables educators to earn a micro-credential in Financial Education instruction.
“EverFi has long been committed to ensuring that students have the financial capability they need to be successful in work and life,” said Ray Martinez EverFi Co-Founder and President. “We are excited to extend our professional development opportunities for teachers through this new certification with BloomBoard.”
EverFi’s Certification Program offers tutorials and hands-on work that will allow educators to earn a micro-credential in Financial Education instruction. The micro-credential requires that educators gain a deeper understanding of why school-based financial education is critical for students, learn how to facilitate a high-quality blended learning student experience, implement financial education instruction in the classroom through EverFi’s tools and become financial education advocates in their school and district. This certification complements EverFi’s student facing financial literacy learning platform that has been used by close to 2,000,000 students.
Over 400 educators across the U.S. opted to participate in the program’s launch this month. The program will also be available to schools and districts who want to provide professional development opportunities around financial literacy across their organization. By participating in the program, educators will gain access to professional learning resources through the BloomBoard platform, as well as collaboration rooms where they can share key takeaways, questions and challenges as they work towards earning their micro-credential. Upon completion of the micro-credential, certified teachers will receive a digital badge for their email signature, resume, and website, as well as a certificate identifying them as an official EverFi Financial Education Certified Teacher.
“Studies show that learning by doing rather than by watching, reading, or listening alone results in the richest and deepest learning,” said Sanford Kenyon, CEO of BloomBoard. “Everfi’s Certified Financial Education Teacher Program leverages micro-credentials as a way to provide the hands-on engagement educators need to develop the core competencies for financial literacy.”
