Prepare Aspiring Paraeducators
Instruction, Coaching, and Certification
Districts will:
- Build educator candidate pools
- Increase staff representation and diversity
- Provide much-needed support to an underserved educator population
Elevate and Certify Aspiring Teachers
In-Classroom, Apprenticeship-Based Bachelor’s Degree in PK-4 or 4-8, and special education.
Districts will:
- Begin building sustainable educator pipelines
- Increase employee retention, promoting from within the district
- Increase staff representation and diversity through a more accessible approach to earning a BA
Advance and Retain Teachers
On-the-Job Master’s level courses for teachers with a certification OR for those with a Bachelor’s degree in a field other than education (MAT).
Districts will:
- Increase teacher retention, creating a path towards career advancement and higher compensation
- Improve effective classroom practices
- Align instruction with district priorities and teacher goals
Fill Staffing Shortages in Specialized, High Demand Teaching Areas
Cost-Effective Certification Programs (e.g., Students with Disabilities, ESL, etc.)
Districts will:
- Retain teachers through increased access to advanced roles
- More equitably and effectively meet the needs of special student populations and improve classroom practice
Ongoing, consistent access to on the job professional development for leaders
School and District leaders can earn Act 45 credit hours through the following courses:
- Foundations of Leadership
- Leadership to Support Special Populations
- Leadership for Equity
Leverage state or federal funding to cover or subsidize educators’ degrees
→ Use short term ESSER funds to solve long term staffing needs
