ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Content and Pedagogy Assessment Micro-credentials

The Arkansas Department of Education has approved Content Assessment micro-credentials to support educators on an Alternate Assessment Plan (AAP) and Pedagogy Assessment micro-credentials to support educators with a Provisional Professional Teaching License (PPTL).

What is a Micro-credential?

A micro-credential is earned by demonstrating competence in a specific skill via a portfolio of evidence created through classroom practice. All micro-credentials are based on a robust, standardized blueprint, grounded in four areas of instructional efficacy research including, cycles of inquiry, job-embedded supports, rigorously calibrated assessment, and portfolio-based learning.

Content Assessment Micro-credential

Arkansas Educators who score within -2 SEMs of the national standard may apply for an Alternate Assessment Plan (AAP). Educators may choose to complete a micro-credential to supplement the content area assessment requirement as part of their AAP. Educators must be issued their provisional license under the AAP prior to purchasing a micro-credential.
