Developed by noted early childhood music specialist John Feierabend, this curriculum, adaptable to any grade level, provides a comprehensive resource for teaching students how to read both rhythm in pitch in a step-by-step process. Includes a ton of game ideas, literature, and assessment tools. I have seen great results for studens of all ages with this resource!
A good read, especially for beginning teachers. There are at least five main methodologies used in the teaching of rhythm, and sometimes it can be hard to decide which one might work best for you. This paper gives some good ideas about where to start!
Set in the style of the "Star Wars" opening scrawl, this simple activity gives students a fun way to practice familiar rhythms while also giving them time to get ready to perform. Great for assessment!
What a great resource! Most of the videos on this channel are in Spanish, but there are many "clap-along" videos with basic rhythms accompanying famous themes kids will recognize, from "Star Wars" to "Angry Birds." Have fun exploring this one!
Lots of fun! If you have access to iPads in your music classroom, this app allows your students to tap along with some of the most common rhythms taught, all while listening to some great music, too! There is a free version you can download, too!
