Genia Connell is a top Teacher Blogger on Scholastic Teachers website. She published a blog about implementing close reading in her 3rd grade classroom. She discusses strategies and provides a hand-out for students to use during close reads. The hand-out is awesome! You can easily adapt it for your class.
I enjoy locating various lessons that are Common Core Aligned. Student Achievement Partners have created model lessons for teachers to use during close reads. These lessons include complex texts, text-dependent questions, vocabulary, writing assignments, and assessment questions. However, educators can visit achievthecore.org to find other worthwhile resources. I love this website!! I am a Core Advocate. I can encourage you to join the Core!
Matthew Brown published a lesson plan for all educators, K-12, so they could get students to think creatively and critically about the text. Within the lesson plan, there are resources for educators to help with implementation. This is a great lesson plan!
