This is an invaluable resource for any educator looking to integrate journalism lesson plans into their classroom. There are twenty-four training modules, complete with lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and printable handouts.
Let me say right off, High Five's "Become a Journalist" unit is two hundred pages long. Take what you need and ignore the rest. There are a number of fun classroom activities, some of which I have used in my Media Arts class, to much success.
Dubbed an "ethics crash course," this two-week unit plan is geared toward high schoolers and gives them an introduction to journalism ethics. The unit plan also gives tips on how to continue weaving ethics into subsequent lesson plans throughout the year to build students' "ethics fitness."
