Educators will work with a team to identify behaviors that align with the team’s shared purpose and create protocols to ensure alignment with the shared purpose.

Method Components

Components of ensuring that the team is aligned with the shared purpose

  • Using the mission, vision, values, and goals developed in the previous micro-credential, Cultivating a Shared Purpose, identify concrete examples of behaviors that would align with living the shared purpose.
  • Create collective commitments that demonstrate how team members might embody the shared purpose while engaged in school.
  • Develop a protocol for maintaining the shared purpose of the team that team members can use to share responsibility for upholding commitments.

Submission Requirements

Submission Guidelines & Evaluation Criteria

To earn the micro-credential, you must receive a passing evaluation for Parts 1 and 3 and a score of Proficient or Exemplary for each component in Part 2.

Part 1. Overview questions

Activity Description (300-word limit):

  • Who are the people on your team? Why were they chosen to be on the team?
  • What need is your project fulfilling?
  • How long do you anticipate the project will last?
  • How will you communicate the team’s expectations and protocols to people who join the project after it is up and running?

Part 2. Evidence/artifacts

Submit a document outlining the identified behaviors of staff and students that align with the shared purpose, a document describing the protocol to be used by staff members to support collective responsibility for ensuring alignment with the shared purpose, and survey results or a brief video (less than 5 minutes) that exemplifies the identified behaviors and demonstrates an understanding of the protocol to ensure alignment with shared purpose. (This example could be related to student or staff behaviors.)

Your artifact submission will be assessed based on the following rubric. You must earn a score of Proficient or Exemplary on this portion of the submission in order to earn the micro-credential.

Part 3. Reflection

Please reflect on the following (500-word limit):

  • As you and your team identified the behavioral expectations for staff members for your project, how did you ensure the mission, vision, values, and goals were represented?
  • Give an example of how your process demonstrated your shared purpose.

As you move toward implementation, please respond to the following (500-word limit):

  • What types of challenges do you anticipate in ensuring alignment? How might the protocols you created help you overcome those challenges?
  • How might you hold yourself accountable to making sure you follow the protocols even in difficult situations?
