The Opportunity
This past spring, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA) launched a new grant opportunity that enables schools and other eligible entities to provide learning recovery and remediation services for K-12 students who were impacted by COVID-19 during the 2020-2021 school year. The intent of the grant is to provide for Hoosier students who were disproportionately impacted by learning loss as a result of the pandemic through additional community support and resources for students and teachers (e.g., counseling services, mental health supports, engagement, and teacher professional development).

To support districts in earning these grant dollars, BloomBoard reached out to districts across the state to:

  • Share details and resources related to this funding opportunity
  • Unveil BloomBoard’s newly-developed micro-credential-based Learning Recovery programs
  • Support interested districts through the grant application process, including providing FREE consultation, planning, and grant-writing services

BloomBoard’s Solution
Teachers play a critical role in the well-being of students as they can identify learning gaps and contribute to addressing student needs. After analyzing current research and holding discussions with education leaders across the country, BloomBoard developed a comprehensive Learning Recovery program designed to prepare Indiana teachers with the critical skills needed for COVID rebuilding in key focus areas including equity, student well-being, and learning recovery.

The following is an example of the two-year program that select Indiana districts are engaging in as part of the Student Learning Recovery Grant.

Year 2: Offers choice based on the needs of educators with in your districtIndiana Student Learning Recovery

The Results
In a span of two weeks, BloomBoard provided support to 32 unique school districts and organizations across the state of Indiana. Of these 32 districts, 11 applied for grant funding utilizing BloomBoard’s grant-writing services—8 of which were awarded the funding and 6 of which had approval to include launch of the aforementioned micro-credential program to address learning recovery.
